CCTE Manager Shelby County Schools
Tanika Lester is the Manager of the Division of College, Career & Technical Education with Shelby County Schools in Memphis, TN. She began her career in the classroom as a Business Technology teacher. After eleven years, she moved into administration and began advocating for career and technical education programs. Tanika understands the positive effects of career and technical education, and works tirelessly to ensure that all SCS students are exposed to programs that provide the technical and academic skills necessary for success in future careers. All SCS CTE programs include some form of postsecondary training and industry certification attainment. Tanika has received all MOS and IC3 certifications and last year she led the academic team with students earning 2,728 industry-recognized certifications! The goal is to produce Ready Graduates – ready for college and career.
